Algae
The number of algae specimens is about 2.350. In the herbarium, they are arranged as follows: (Eukaryotic) brown algae (Phaeophyta), green algae (Chlorophyta), red algae (Rhodophyta) and (prokariotic) blue algae (Cyanophyta/Cyanobacteria). Most of the specimens were collected in the 19th century in Southwestern Germany (freshwater algae), the North and the Baltic Sea (mainly marine algae). There is one important exsiccata in the algae collections named "European Characeen" of W. and H. Krause; it features 62 specimens in five fascicles.
The algae collections will be re-arranged, mounted again and entered in a database.
